Angel’s Journey - Angel Returns

Angel watched as the door opened, with her head held high walked through with Omega. She let out a soft breath when she felt the sand beneath her feet and heard the door close shut behind her. The fresh breeze felt good up against her skin. She closed her eyes and listened to the sound of the ocean. It sounded so peaceful. They were back on the little island where she first met the Keeper. A part of her didn’t want to go back, but she had two promises to keep. Sighing she turned and jumped slightly when she saw Reaper standing beside her. “What…what are you doing here?”

“Waiting for you to return, I knew you would.” he replied with a knowing smirk.

Angel stood there shocked at first and blinked. She didn’t know what to say. Reaper chuckled at the look on her face, which irritated her some. He reached out and hugged her. Angel stiffened instantly at the contact. Reaper frowned but didn’t say anything. He was just happy to see that she was okay. He let her go and gave her another smile. “Are you ready to go?”

“Yes.” Angel replied. It wasn’t in her usual soft tone, which again he noticed but didn’t make comment on, but only nodded. Not wanting to touch her again because of what happened before. “It is faster if we use the shadows.”

Angel nodded and prepared herself because she knew there would be some form of contact. She looked at Omega who came closer enough to her to touch her leg with her body. Reaper reached out and gently touched Angel’s arm and used the shadow’s to take them back to the ship.

As soon as they arrived back on the ship, Angel moved away quickly from him. Reaper noticed the amount of space she put between them and hid the grimace that wanted to appear on his face. "What is wrong with her?" he thought. "What happened to the Angel he knew?"  So many thoughts were going through his mind as he stared at her that he didn’t hear Aslansa come up behind them.

“ANGEL!!” Aslansa yelled and rushed forward and hugged her tightly.

Reaper reached out to stop him but it was too late. Aslansa had her in a big bear hug. Angel was as stiff as a board and her eyes where wide at first. “We were so worried about you.” Aslansa kept going, not seeing the reaction or how Angel was responding, but Reaper did.

“Put me down.” She said softly at first. Angel was shaking all over. She didn’t want to be touched. She didn’t want this closeness. A feeling of being closed came over her and memories began flashing through her mind, when suddenly she yelled, “LET ME GO!” as she struggled to get free.

Aslansa, startled opened his arms and dropped her. Angel fell onto the deck and scurried away from him before rising to her feet again. Omega came rushing to her side. “Don’t…ever touch me like that again!” She said in a shaky breath. Angel had wrapped her crimson wings around her. Her ebony eyes where wide as she looked at them, “Never…touch me.!

“Angel you are back on the ship. You are safe here.” Reaper began softly. “You are home…”

Aslansa understood what he was doing said, “You are with family. We would never hurt you…we just wanted you to come home.” He said softly. His eyes held so much concern and a bit of hurt at her reaction. He had been so happy to see her and when she yelled like that it hurt him some. He would do nothing to ever hurt her; all he wanted to do was protect her.

Hearing their words coldness came over her, it chilled her to her very soul. “I came back for two reasons and two only.” She held up two slender fingers. “I have two promises to keep, one to me Capetian and one to the Keeper.” Angel’s eyes narrowed to thin slits. Her wings spread out and she stood up straight. “As for never hurt you and we are family, you are safe, you are home, pleasssseee.” Angel dragged out the last word and glared at them both. “Everyone hurts me or will end up hurting me. Everyone lies or will end up lying to me. I have no home. My family is Omega that is it. All I have in this world is her and no other. Why? I know she will never betray me!” Her lip trembled a little and her eyes watered some when she said those words, but she fought the tears that wanted to come out. She needed to stay strong; weakness was not an option for her any longer. She learned too much about herself. She knew the truth. She didn’t belong any where. Who would want on someone like her, half angel and half demon?  Angel turned away from them both and spread her wings completely out, grabbing Omega; she flew up to her favorite spot and sat there holding her. She refused to cry in front of them or anyone ever again. Holding Omega tightly to her, the tears she held back flowed from her eyes silently. The pain she had been holding in coursed through her heart and veins and poured hotly down her face. She lifted her face and looked up at the moon. “I am back.” She whispered.

Reaper and Aslansa looked at each other. Aslansa was the first to speak. “What did that thing do to her?” he growled out. “She wasn’t that bad before she left.”  He turned and glowered at Reaper. “I told you that we should have…”

He didn’t get to finish his sentence before Reaper turned on him, “Just shut up already. Do you think I am not concerned?” he snapped. “I don’t know what happened, but I do know she is hurting. I do know she isn’t the Angel we know.” He got into Aslansa face. “I do know that I will gain her trust.”

“As will I.” he countered back. “You are not the only one. I am responsible for this. I want to protect her as much as you do. She is family to me whether she wants to believe it or not.”

They both scowled at each other for a moment and then looked up at Angel. “At least she is back though. That is a start.” Aslansa said.

“True, but I did notice one thing.” Reaper said. “Look at her wings.” He pointed.

“What about them, they are crimson.”

“Yes at the top, but follow them down, look past the middle and towards the bottom…what do you see?” Reaper replied.

Aslansa followed his finger and his hazel eyes widen some. Angel’s wings were now black at the tips. No longer were her wings purely crimson but were faded black at the tips. “What do you think it means?”

“I don’t know, but I have a feeling we are going to find out.” Reaper laughed. “I do believe we are going to have our hands full, aren’t we my Angel” he thought to himself.
Hmm...is all I can say. Who has returned is it the Angel they all love and know or someone else? Only time will tell. Can Reaper and Aslansa reach her and gain her trust? Will anyone be able to?

Even though I am mighty late to comment on this, like, 100 years later. I have to write this, though.
But I am sad to read after that long, very well-written story I still remember... how Angel suffered and endured pain after her long journey away from Sangue-Padre. But still... Angel ended up like this. But it has many months passed now. What might be the situation now? I do hope Angel has recovered from some of her scars. Linda would not dare face Angel in an occurrence like that. She does not want hurt Angel any further, and she is scared to get hurt, as well. And since she is very laid-back... I guess she might never gain Angel's trust, barely speaking to her...
