Echoes


I am in this void...
A dark place,
With wild winds.
All I hear are
Those words,
That were said that day...

Words cannot hurt,
What isn't even there..
Words cannot blame,
Things which were never true.

Every minute of every day
They echo in my mind...
Like a repeating song,
Stabbing me in my heart
Over and over again...

We can choose which parts to remember,
Which parts to play over again and again.
Take control,
Choose the things you want said..
Choose the memory you want to play.

I know I should let it go,
But I can't!!
For what if there are some truth
to those hateful words,
That seem to haunt me
To no end.

Look deep inside you,
Search for the answers you seek.
For only you know what resides under every rock,
Behind every wall...

Over and over they play in my mind,
Like a long lost melody from another time,
I lose myself in the words that play,
Making me want to turn to the blade.

'From another time'
Hold on to that...
It is another time,
A past that is no longer,
A memory that is faded,
A life that changed.

Yet the memory is fresh
And still is there..
Like a wound that can't heal
Staying open and bare...

Wounds take time to heal,
Depending on its depth
And on everything else.

I want it to stop!
I want it to end!
I want to silence the words that float through
My mind...
Ending this echoing
For all time!!
