Silently, With A Smile

I guess you couldn't see the signs
Did you ever wonder why I wore long sleeves,
As hot as it was, covering my arms,
Never showing my skin,
Hiding the marks; the signs

I guess you didn't hear my cry,
The calls in the middle of the night to talk,
To hear your voice, to feel safe,
To know you were near, not that far,
Though my lips had to stay sealed,

Did you ever wonder why I stayed so late,
Not wanting to go home,
To be near you, sitting close
Feeling secure for a moment,
Until I had to leave;
To go into my hell once again,

Masking my eyes, covering them
So you couldn't see the
Black and blue, and the tears,
The rainbow of colors they were,
Hidden behind a smile so,
You couldn't see the truth,

I guess I got too good at it,
You acted as if you never knew,
Going on as if nothing was wrong,
So I did too…
Silently, with a smile…
There isn't much to say here. The poem speaks for herself. Another poem that is letting, the Silent One, have her words. Thank you for reading. :iconblackheartplz:

This is beautiful writing :) It speaks very much of human nature, how many of us mask what we really feel. This reminds me a lot of youth, growing up and experiences that tend to rip us apart yet we try to compose ourselves and not let others know the amount of pain we truly feel.

Could relate to this a lot.
